In ths book, there are multiple places where Dakota is led to believe things that are not true, but which are very convincing and are seemingly supported by video evidence as well as the boys' words and actions.

Most concerningly, it's made to look as if Maxx has cheated on her with her sister, that Chasm has cheated on her with Lumen, and that Parrish is willingly to going to marry Lumen; none of these things are true. They have never been true. They will never be true.
